Virgil Vasquez is a former professional baseball player who was born on August 7, 1982, in Santa Barbara, California. He attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he played college baseball for the UCSB Gauchos.
Vasquez was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round of the 2003 MLB Draft and made his major league debut with the team in 2007. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during his career, which spanned from 2007 to 2010.
During his time in the majors, Vasquez appeared in 19 games and posted a 5.84 ERA. He also pitched in the minor leagues for several seasons and played in international leagues in Korea and Mexico after his MLB career was over.
Vasquez is currently working as a pitching coach for the West Virginia Black Bears, a minor league affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
